Welcome to Olivia Maylam Racing

Olivia Maylam started training racehorses in May 2010 out of Exeter Stables in Exning, near Newmarket.

Olivia grew up around horses and eventually started riding in point to points before working one summer for racehorse trainer, David Elsworth who became a great influence on her as was his assistant trainer.

Olivia decided to move to France for a year to gain more experience and worked for the jumps trainer Guillaume Macaire in the Charente-Maritime department in south-western France before returning to the UK and becoming assistant trainer to Gay Kelleway. She continued to ride as an amateur jockey.

After leaving Gay's yard, Olivia returned to David Elsworth's before taking out her own trainers licence earlier this year.  Early in 2011 she moved to Epsom and continued her training from Chalk Pit Stables, a yard which had previously housed Brook Sanders and Les Montague Hall.

She currently has a small string of 18 horses which have moved with her along with staff and jockey Kylie Manser from Exning to Epsom but with 26 boxes and great facilities such as access to 4 all weather gallops, a sand gallop, numerous grass gallops and 400 acres of woodland, she is confident that she will attract many new owners.  She has recently started enjoying the patronage of Ormonde Racing who syndicate horses and who are looking to expand their interests in this area.  They currently have 2 horses with her but are looking to buy 10 more for the forthcoming season.  They are also very much interested in Olivia's commitment to looking further afield as far as entries are concerned with a view to running quite a few horses in France, where the prize money is considerably higher and , if anything, the racing less competitive.  The year she spent with Guillaume Macaire will be invaluable for this as she still has some great contacts within French racing.

With 5 winners already this season Olivia has already had people starting to take notice and each of her runners is now accompanied by such comments as " From a small stable that has started well " or " Trainer has done very well this season in these type of events " and even "Shrewd young handler watch market!".  Even  the noted journalist Mark "the couch" Winstanley has written about her in glowing terms in his columns on a Monday in the Racing Post saying she was a trainer to look out for in 2011!
